UNBC HEALTH AND WELLNESS FAIR

Location: UNBC HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTRE

The UNBC Health and Wellness Centre is putting on a Health and Wellness Fair, November 20th and 21st from 10am to 3pm. There will be 20th booths which will include topics such as Seasonal Affective Disorder, Gardisil (the new HPV Vaccine), Stress and Depression, Flu Vaccination to name a few.  Some services will be available at the fair including cholesterol testing & influenza vaccination. In addition the Wii Fit will be set up and the public is welcome to try it out for themselves before entering the draw to win the system.

CHILLIN FOR CHARITY

On Sunday, the JDC West team from UNBC will be jumping into a pool filled with freezing water and ice. All proceeds from the event will go directly to our charity, the Spirit of the North Healthcare foundation. This is a huge event for us, as it is for the city, especially since in 2010, UNBC will have the privilege of hosting the JDC West competition that will by then bring 700 of the best business students from across the country as well as numerous corporations looking to recruit and network with these individuals.

SMART GROWTH ON THE GROUND

Smart Growth on the Ground is holding two upcoming public workshops: one on Wednesday, November 26 focusing on learning about climate change and housing, and a downtown priority setting workshop on Thursday, November 27. Both workshops are free, and will be held from 6:00 to 9:30 pm in the Ramada Prince George Ballroom.  No registration is necessary.

In advance of the upcoming Smart Growth on the Ground Workshops, Environmental Planning 304 is hosting a SGOG sponsored screening of An Inconvenient Truth.  Join us on Tuesday, November 18 at 7:00 pm at the Prince George Civic Centre, room 208, for a film screening followed by a discussion on climate change. Refreshments will be served, and admission is by donation.

The Canadian Institute of Forestry, in celebration of 100 years, is presenting world-renowned artist and environmentalist, Robert Bateman, who will give a lecture at UNBC Canfor Theatre on November 2nd, 7:00 p.m. titled "Thinking Like a Mountain". Tickets are available at Books & Co. Partial proceeds will be donated to local conservation organizations and there will be an opportunity for the public to donate at the venue. Drop off any winter garments, coats, jackets, ski suits, winter pants, toques, mittens, scarves, at any SPOTLESS CLEANERS location (15th Ave, 5th Ave, Spruce St.). The garments are then cleaned and distributed to any organization which will pass them on to the needy.

5th ANNUAL CNC DOGGIE FASION SHOW
