Shinedown fans have a ways to go before the March 27th release of their fourth album ‘Amaryllis’ but can now get a preview of the album right here. Shinedown are set to follow-up the biggest release of their career with their new album ‘Amaryllis’ March 27th. Whether or not they will trump the success ‘The Sound of Madness’ enjoyed is still unknown but if the latest taste of the new record is any indication — they have a good shot. You can hear previews of the title track as well as ‘Adrenaline,’ ‘Unity,’ ‘Through the Ghost,’ ‘Nowhere Kids,’ and more at Shinedown’s official website.

Welcome to February and a day that for many will represent anything but a normal start to the calendar month. That’s because fans of Rush and progressive metal worldwide are celebrating today’s date, 2-1-12, as ‘Rush Day!’ 2-1-12 of course lines up nicely with the title of the Rush album ’2112,’ (see our recent look back at the album, which we did in honor of our 2,112th post) which is a hallowed platter of music that has provided hours of headphone listening and mental dissection for a nation of prog lovers since it was first released in 1976. Author Jeff Wagner, who wrote the book ‘Mean Deviation: Four Decades of Progressive Heavy Metal,’ calls ’2112′ “probably the first album that can rightfully be called progressive metal.” Wagner and other Rush fanatics are leading the charge to honor their Canadian rock superheroes by listening to the album in sync today as a sort of pre-game activity, since we’re 100 years away from the actual year 2112. Happy 2112 day from 94X!!!

RUSH - TOM SAWYER
DARKNESS - I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE

The Darkness kick off their North American tour today (February 1st) and will debut their first new song in six years. The song and video for "Nothin's Gonna Stop Us," will be available on the band's official site www.theactualdarkness.com. Fans have waited patiently since The Darkness last released material in 2006, and "Nothin's Gonna Stop Us" will be available for free as a "Thank you" for all who've supported the band with sold-out tours on both sides of the Atlantic. The video for the song was created by artist Thom Lessner and director Ted Passon--and it was worth the wait. See the band in Vancouver at The Commodore February 24th!

1963, 17-year-old Neil Young performed his first professional date at a country club in Winnipeg. - After revealing that he has plans for not one, but two collaborations with Crazy Horse, Neil Young has posted the first sounds of their new work together. The rock legend unveiled a 37-minute track, now streaming on his official website. The recording is titled "Horse Back" and was recorded on January 6 at Audio Casa Blanca studios, according to NME. In the video that accompanies the recording, fans have spotted various lyrics sheets, including ones marked "Gallows Pole," "Clementine," "This Land," "Oh Susanna!," "She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain" and "Gotta Travel On (Done Laid Around)." Could Young and Crazy Horse be planning some sort of campfire, folk song, sing-along record – with extreme distortion? Only time will tell. Today's picture for 94Xposed is a shot of Neil at 17 years old!
