1979 – U2 released their first record, the “U2-3” EP, effectively marking the starting point for that legendary Irish band!
U2 - MYSTERIOUS WAYS Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland is covering some of rock's most famous bands and artists on his new album. Appropriately titled A Compilation of Scott Weiland Cover Songs, the digital-only release features tunes originally by The Beatles, Nirvana, The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, David Bowie and many others. On the release (available now on ScottWeiland.com), the former Velvet Revolver singer takes on two Bowie tunes ("Fame" and "The Jean Genie"), along with the Stones' "Dead Flowers," Radiohead's "Let Down," The Smiths' "Reel Around the Fountain" and the New York Dolls' "Personality Crisis." --------------------------BREAK--------------------------- It started out as an idea to raise money for the children still affected by the tsunami in Japan. It started out at the Roxy. Each fan that raised $500 for the cause could see a special Linkin Park show. People’s generosity always amazes me. Too many fans raised money for the Roxy to hold, so they moved it to the Mayan Theater on Wednesday night. When all was said and done Linkin Park fans had raised over $300,000 which is being sent directly to Japan to help kids that were affected by the Tsunami. AMAZING!
LINKIN PARK - IN THE END Sum 41 will not be heading to South America, as singer Deryck Whibley still needs more time to deal with his ongoing back issues. The group “indefinitely postponed” the remainder of their dates on the “Screaming Bloody Murder” tour for the remainder of 2011 while Whibley continues treatment. His doctors have ordered a rehabilitation program and he will likely need the remainder of the year to recuperate. Drummer Steve Jocz added, “We are all devastated that our best tour yet has been interrupted. Our band lives to be on stage and playing in front of our fans. We never want to let anyone down, but the most important thing right now is that Deryck makes a full recovery so we can continue on next year.” We wish our Canadian buddies all the best while they recouperate! -----------------------BREAK-----------------------
