94XPOSED TUESDAY FEBRUARY 2ND

Geoff Lloyd, former bassist for the Matthew Good Band, has passed away. Matthew Good took to his website on Sunday (Jan. 31) to say he was "in a state of shock" about Lloyd's death. A fundraiser will be held Sunday (Feb. 7) at Vancouver's Asbalt to help Lloyd's widow, Lisafurr Lloyd, whose mother also passed away two weeks ago. Mr. Plow, The East Vamps, Free Cigarettes For Drunk Minors and Death Sentence will play the gig. Lloyd joined the Matthew Good Band in 1995. He left the group and was replaced by Rich Priske in 1999. Lloyd performed on the Matthew Good Band's 1995 Last Of The Ghetto Astronauts debut album and their 1997 Underdogs breakout disc.

How do you keep things fresh when an album keeps you on the road for three years? Shinedown drummer Barry Kerch tells The Pulse Of Radio that time is winding down on “The Sound Of Madness” and the group hope to do something special to finish up their promotion of the disc. He explains, “When this record’s finally waning and it’s time to do another one, to end this we thought it’d be really nice to do a, you know, maybe a month-long acoustic tour and hit all of our major markets.” Kerch says that while nothing is set in stone, the idea is on the table and something the group will consider strongly.

IRON MAIDEN - RUN TO THE HILLS

Pop group Backstreet Boys have sparked outrage among heavy metal fans in India after it was announced they will follow Iron Maiden as a headliner for the upcoming Rock in India festival. The event marked the first ever rock festival in India when it kicked off in 2008, with Megadeth and Machine Head playing top of the bill. Iron Maiden took the stage in 2009. And in 2010 the organisers seem to think that there will be no crowd problems if they put Iron Maiden onstage and then follow them up with a cookie cutter crap pop group. I predict a riot and at least one Backstreet boy being K.Oed from flying debris!

Late rock ’n’ roll pioneer Roy Orbison was given his long-overdue due Friday when he was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The unveiling of the Walk's 2,400th landmark — which sits at the base of the famed Capitol Records tower on Vine Street, alongside stars of John Lennon and George Harrison — was attended by a gang of Orbison’s friends, family and fellow musicians. In the crowd were Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, fellow Traveling Wilbury Jeff Lynne, folk-rock legend Phil Everly, comedian Eric Idle of Monty Python, Olivia Harrison, singer-guitarist Dwight Yoakam, Wilburys drummer Jim Keltner, singer-songwriters Chris Isaak and Jason Mraz, and even filmmaker David Lynch, who famously used Orbison’s In Dreams in his film Blue Velvet. But the guests of honour on this day were Orbison’s widow Barbara and his three sons Wesley, Roy Jr. and Alex.
