ROLLING STONES - GIMME SHELTER
NICKELBACK - BURN IT TO THE GROUND

Alice Cooper rang in the new year by joining fellow Hall Of Famers James Hetfield (Metallica) and Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwod Mac), along with Pat Simmons (The Doobie Brothers) and Mike Kroeger (Nickelback), on stage in Maui to form a new rock n’ roll supergroup for one night only. The group got together to play on New Year's Eve for the MALA Benefit, which helped the Maui Food Bank. The benefit was the second of two nights fronted by the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band; they played Dec. 30 at a Maui Celebrity Series concert at Maui Theatre in Lahaina, before suiting up for the New Year’s benefit Mala Wailea to benefit the MACC and the Maui Food Bank. No video of the supergroup in action has surfaced, but I’ll keep my eyes open and let you know if it does.

Seether are one of the bands making their way back to stores in 2011. Drummer John Humphrey and guitarist Troy McLawhorn told The Honolulu Star Advertiser that the set will be titled "Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray" and it’s expected to hit stores in May. Humphrey explained, "I think with this next album, the whole experience has been more about all of us contributing. It sounds much more like a unified band. I’m excited for people to hear it." As for the title, McLawhorn reveals that it’s a line in one of the more important tracks on their album. While not completely confirmed, the group are leaning toward "No Resolution" as a lead single, which should surface in March.

SEETHER - CARELESS WHISPER
SIXX AM - PRAY FOR ME

Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx has posted a new video to promote his upcoming book 'This Is Gonna Hurt: Music, Photography and Life Through the Distorted Lens of Nikki Sixx.' The book is due for release through HarperCollins' William Morrow imprint on April 26, 2011. 'This Is Gonna Hurt' will include more than two dozen of the author's images -- he will incorporate the stories behind the pictures and how they came to be, including interviews with the subjects so readers can see "what life is like for those whom society has labeled as freaks." April 26th is the release date for the book and an album from Sixx A.M. should follow!

The overall total for the program this holiday season saw Operation Red Nose provide 1,123 rides, that’s 327 more than last year, and 123 more than their 1,000 ride goal. On New Year’s Eve, 35 teams provided 273 safe rides home. They drove 5,851 kilometres on that night alone. That’s more mileage than driving from Prince George to Halifax. Johnson says the success of the program would not be possible without the help of all the volunteers. To say thank you, there will be a volunteer appreciation dinner this Saturday at the Operation Red Nose headquarters at ICBC. Those who volunteered over the course of this year’s Operation Red Nose program who have yet to sign up for the appreciation night, can call Andrea at 250-961-0067 by Wednesday, Jan. 5.
