The long-standing rumors about Steven Tyler having tried out for Led Zeppelin are true, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has told Classic Rock Magazine. And the singer even tried to keep the news from his bandmates, which, says Perry, demonstrates how difficult it's been to work with him in recent times. Tyler was one of those shortlisted to replace Robert Plant when he decided not to pursue a Led Zep reunion after their one-off London show in 2007. But Perry later spoke to Zep's Jimmy Page about it, and discovered the audition had been "awkward".... Tyler turned up without knowing enough about Led Zep's set or gameplan, and was under the impression he'd be joining the band to write new material - which wasn't currently under discussion.

Arcade Fire will team up with the NFL this weekend, as the track "Wake Up" will be used to help soundtrack breaks for the Super Bowl. The group, who have decided against licensing their music in the past, say they will use the proceeds from licensing the song to benefit the Partners In Health charity, with funds being funneled to Haitian relief efforts. The Indianapolis Colts/New Orleans Saints game airs this Sunday on CBS. 3pm!

I guess we knew this day was coming...........Frances Bean Cobain, late Nirvana singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain's daughter with Courtney Love, will make her recording debut on the upcoming album from Evelyn Evelyn, Dresden Dolls singer Amanda Palmer's side-project. The self-titled debut disc is out March 30 Cobain appears on a track called "MySpace," which also features guest spots from Tegan And Sara, My Chemical Romance singer/guitarist Gerard Way, Weird Al Yankovic, Andrew W.K. and author Neil Gaiman, who's also Palmer's fiance. We can only imagine what that tune is going to sound like. We're picturing a weird, keyboard-laden freaky cabaret (Palmer) tune about unrequited love (Tegan And Sara), mixed with angsty (Cobain), hyperactive (Andrew W.K.) goth-punk (Way) that's actually a parody (Yankovic)

Alice Cooper – The original shock rocker is 62 today! A little known fact about Alice.......He is actually Dave Mustaine's Godfather! NO JOKE! Cooper toured with the band during the early part of their career and when he saw the amount of drugs and alcohol that the megadeth boys were consuming, he called a meeting with the band and gave them some advice on how to be a long standing kickass band. The advice fell on deaf ears at the time, but Years later, when Mustaine hit rock bottom he called Alice looking for some kind of Help and support. Cooper immediately helped him get into rehab and get clean and still talks to mustaine weekly.
