HAIL THE VILLAIN - RUNAWAY
ALIEN ANT FARM - SMOOTH CRIMINAL
A Taiwan rice farm is trying an off the wall way to get hungry birds to beat it at harvest time: scarecrows dressed like King of Pop Michael Jackson. One of the two scarecrows, wooden frames with sponges for faces, wears white sequined gloves, a black fedora hat and black brogues, and the other is decked out in a red "Thriller" jacket and trousers. They are the idea of 30-year old salesman and Jackson fan Lee Ping-hsing, who is now making a third for his father's farm in central Taiwan. "During harvest, my dad would go to the fields every day and chase the birds away," Lee said. "And I thought, since Michael is good at 'grabbing his bird', I'm inviting him to grab ours," he told a visiting local TV crew, who were also treated to a few of Lee's Jackson dance moves. If they dont wcare away the birds they will keep the kids from entering the fields.

Hows this for a crazy story of how one of aerosmith's biggest songs camer to be. Did you know that James Brown was the inspiration for the epic rock track, "Walk This Way"?? In a new interview with Total Guitar magazine, Aerosmith guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford discuss some of their most famous riffs. Perry explains that his love of funk played a big role in making "Walk This Way." "That one I kind of planned around the fact that I was always interested in funk, from the really laid back funk of The Meters to the high energy funk of James Brown and everything in between, whether it’s Sly or the Funkadelics or whatever, and I was always interested in incorporating it into rock," Perry said. "I can remember thinking, ‘Rather than cover someone else’s, why don’t I write my own?’ So whether that came out showing the colors that I intended it to – I don’t know if it's true-blue funk or what – but in my head that’s how it came out that day."

DISTURBED - ANOTHER WAY TO DIE
Disturbed are going strong with their "Asylum" album, but one added bonus on recent releases of the album is the "Decade Of Disturbed" documentary. The band have had their highs and lows over the last ten years, and they shared with us a few of their favorite tours. Singer David Draiman tells us, "I think our second Ozzfest was definitely one of the big years for us. It’s one of the tours that we remember very vividly." The vocalist adds that their more recent dates playing European festivals were also among the best shows they’ve ever done. Draiman says that seeing 80,000 plus people with their fists in the air as far as they eye could see is something he’ll always remember. Drummer Mike Wengren recently recalled the bands show at Rock Am Ring in Germany in a recent interview. {CLIP} If you pick up the new Disturbed album you'll find a code inside that allows you to download the Documentary for free!!
