PAPA ROACH - SCARS

Over the weekend, Motley Crue were joined by none other than Papa Roach vocalist Jacoby Shaddix on their famous cover of ‘Smokin’ in the Boys Room’ at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Motley Crue kicked off their Las Vegas residency with two sold-out shows where they rolled out explosive classics like ‘Shout at the Devil,’ ‘Looks that Kill,’ and ‘Girls Girls Girls’ as well as an acoustic set. The audience at Saturday night’s (Feb. 5) show received an extra special treat, when the Crue were joined by Papa Roach singer and former Crue Fest tour mate Jacoby Shaddix. Motley Crue resume their residency tonight, while Shaddix will likely continue work with Papa Roach on what they’ve called “the record of our career.”

The studio in rural Minnesota where Nirvana made their last studio album, In Utero, will soon be rocking again, after laying dormant for nearly a year. As reported by Minneapolis’ Star-Tribune, the formerly troubled Pachyderm Studio is being overhauled by John Kuker, one of the Twin Cities’ most reputable studio operators. Kuker, whose Minneapolis-based Seed Underbelly Studios has branches in New York and Los Angeles, plans to do “a whole makeover” on Pachyderm, which helped birth albums by such artists as PJ Harvey, Soul Asylum and Brian Setzer, in addition to Nirvana. The studio property was purchased last summer for $370,000, but the purchase included neither the studio equipment nor the Pachyderm name. Kuker said he therefore plans to re-dub the facility Seedy Underbelly North, and he’s already brought in a vintage recording console used by Bob Marley in the early 1970s. The opportunity to own and refurbish the Pachyderm space was “too good to pass up,” Kuker told the Star-Tribune.

BLACK SABBATH - SWEET LEAF

Rumors were swirling around the Internet today suggesting that Black Sabbath have replaced original drummer Bill Ward with Tommy Clufetos from the Ozzy Osbourne band. These rumors have not been confirmed by the band or management. However fans are rallying around Ward and have launched a new Facebook page dubbed 1,000,000 Black Sabbath Fans Say Yes To Bill Ward. https://www.facebook.com/pages/1000000-Black-Sabbath-fans-say-yes-to-Bill-Ward/387229524625706 Black Sabbath recently moved writing sessions for their long-awaited reunion album from Los Angeles to Birmingham, England due to guitarist Tony Iommi's treatment for lymphoma. Drummer Bill Ward is currently in a public battle with his old mates "unless a “signable contract is drawn up" he stated recently and has refused to join the rest of the band. The remaining trio (Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler) responded by saying that "we have no choice but to continue recording without him although our door is always open. We are still in the UK with Tony. Writing and recording the new album and on a roll."
