Soundgarden are back at work on new music. The reunited band recently started writing and are now recording new tracks. Drummer Matt Cameron tells Billboard.com, "[We’re] ready to kick it up a notch sonically….There’s a little bit of evolution going on with some of this new music, but we’re not straying too far from the formula. It has all our signature elements – and more. I think people are going to really love it." Cameron says the band got together in December to start writing and came out 12-14 tracks that they plan to explore. Of their songs, the drummer says that about 90 percent of them are new, but there are others that date back to the time of their split in 1996. Before the new album arrives, the band will satisfy fans with the concert disc, "Live On I5," which was recorded in 1996 on their final West Coast swing. It’s due March 22nd.
