48 students from the Aaron O’Keefe music school in Ohio hit the studio in the spring for an 8-hour marathon recording session. A group of young teens, ranging from 11 to 17, spent a couple of hours laying down a seriously heavy cover of “Painkiller” by JudasPriest. The finished product is an impressive cover of the Priest Classic! Black Keys’ new single may be titled “Lonely Boy,” but the spirit it is generating is anything but “lonely.” Drummer Patrick Carney tells us that part of the reason for the energy in the song is the fact that he and singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach tracked it together in the same room. “Lonely Boy” features on Black Keys’ new album, “El Camino,” due in stores December 6th.
BLACK KEYS - LONELY BOY After initially offering “long lists” in each category for fans to vote on, there’s now a short list of candidates for the People’s Choice Awards. Adele is one of the leading nominees, scoring nods for Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Song Of The Year (“Rolling In The Deep”), Favorite Album Of The Year (“21”), and Favorite Music Video (“Rolling In The Deep”). A majority of the music categories are pop-leaning, but Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park and Red Hot Chili Peppers will get to compete with Maroon 5 for Favorite Band, and U2 will do battle with Bon Jovi, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and Usher for the title of Favorite Tour Headliner. Voting is currently underway at www.peopleschoice.com and the winners will be revealed during a January 11th ceremony on CBS. ------------------------BREAK---------------------- One more new tune to debut for you this week right here on 94Xposed!
