94XPOSED THURSDAY FEBRUARY 11TH
On todays date in rock history in 1985 – Wham! hit #1 with the single “Careless Whisper.” Seether had a hit with their cover of the song last year.
SEETHER - CARELESS WHISPER INXS - NEED YOU TONIGHT INXS are working with singer JD Fortune again – although it's billed as "special guest appearance". The frontman, who won the chance to work with the band in a reality TV show, last year claimed they'd sacked him with a handshake and left him living in his car, which the band denied. Now he'll appear with them at the Winter Olympics show in Vancouver on February 24. ----------------------BREAK-------------------- Tool has made it a tradition to take an excruciatingly long time to release new albums. The band has been around since 1990 and released just four full-lengths. However, the pattern of five years between albums since 1996’s Ænima is looking pretty reliable, as the moderator of Toolband.com posted this cryptic message yesterday: “At any rate, Tool’s drummer will return to L.A. tomorrow, so that possibly the ‘process’ can begin in earnest on Wednesday…” We won’t pretend to know for certain what he means by “process,” but this is about the right timing for a 2011 release (or dare we say even earlier?). Considering the band supposedly started writing two years ago, it’s probably safe to assume Maynard is ready to put down his wine for a couple months and start recording. Please? TOOL - VICARIOUS AIRBOURNE - NO WAY BUT THE HARD WAY Airbourne’s new album, “No Guts, No Glory,” has been pushed back to an April 20th release. No reason was given for the delay. In other Airbourne news, the Aussies accepted their Invitation to one of the biggest and best hard rock festivals of the year. Catch the boys at Rockontherange in May! Instead, it's Olivia Newton-John who is tops -- her hit "Physical" is No. 1, followed by Rod Stewart's "Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)." Rounding out the top five: Boyz II Men's ballad "I'll Make Love to You," Next's "Too Close" and Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On." (Gaye's "Sexual Healing" is No. 35) It's not until No. 10 -- Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" -- that sex is mentioned in any song title. Billboard's list, released Thursday, is based on the popularity of songs from 1958 until early January of this year. My personal pick for the sexiest new rock song? Did I mention I hate Valentine's Day?
