OutKast singer Andre 3000 is set to play the lead role in a forthcoming biopic of Jimi Hendrix…maybe. In a profile piece for Esquire, British actress Hayley Atwell divulged the news as a "possibility." "Next up is possibly a Jimi Hendrix biopic — an independent film with André 3000 from OutKast playing Jimi Hendrix," Atwell said. "But I don't know, really." The OutKast singer, whose real name is André Benjamin, has been lobbying for the Hendrix film since 2004. At that time, he told the New York Daily News he was fascinated by Hendrix's dual personality. "Jimi was wild onstage," he said. "Off-stage, he was really calm."

Foster The People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” has the vibe and feel of a summer favorite, but a deeper listen to the lyrics shows a darker side.  Singer Mark Foster tells MTV News, “‘Pumped Up Kicks’ is really about bullying, and the tragedy that bullying produces….if that kid retaliates in a nasty way.  Both sides end up being harmed.”  The vocalist says the contrast between sound and lyrics is a writing tool he enjoys, and he adds, “I like to tell a different type of story, lyrically, than what the music is expressing because it brings another layer to the story itself.”

Slash is writing for a different audience at present.  The guitarist reveals that he recently wrote and performed a song for the upcoming Disney Channel original movie, Phineas And Ferb The Movie: Across The 2nd Dimension.  The movie debuted on Disney Channel over the weekend.  Slash also turned up in a animated video that’s being used to promote the movie, and he says the clip is “very rock and roll, even for a cartoon.”  For those who don’t catch it during its current run, the movie will be released as a two-disc DVD August 23rd.
