THE WHITE STRIPES - ICKY THUMP
 
The White Stripes will release the documentary film Under Great White Northern Lights on 16 March (it will be available on DVD and Blu-ray and be accompanied by a separate audio CD). The film captures the Stripes on their ambitious trek across Canada during their Icky Thump tour of 2007. As you might expect, this is no ordinary tour film: The band made it their aim to play the entire continent, covering regions from British Columbia to Newfoundland to Nunavut. What's more, they staged free, impromptu gigs in remote towns where rock shows are practically non-existent, in venues that ranged from bowling alleys to pool halls to a YMCA center - even a boat! (How they avoided a riot with their one-note concert in St John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, is a miracle.)

As Airbourne prepared to release their sophomore album, No Guts. No Glory this past tuesday, Roadrunner Records checked in with brothers Joel and Ryan O'Keeffe to find out what went into the writing and making of each track. Here is what they had to say about their first single “No Guts No Glory”

Mike Patton (Faith No More, Peeping Tom, Tomahawk) unveils Mondo Cane, his Italian language rock-meets-orchestra hybrid, on May. Recorded at a series of European performances including an outdoor concert in a Northern Italian piazza, the self-titled album features traditional Italian pop songs." Patton worked with a 30-piece orchestra and choir to create the uniquely new Mondo Cane sound. Patton's body of work continues to evolve and grow with a wide range of bands and solo projects including Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Fantomas, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom and most recently as a film composer and voice actor.
