Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has been voted the greatest guitarist of the last 30 years in a BBC 6music listeners' poll. That's right. According to them, there's been no better guitarist emerge since 1980. Frusciante, who confirmed he'd left the Chili Peppers in December, beat former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash for the top honour, also besting Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy, ex-Smiths axeman Johnny Marr and Tom Morello. All told, Frusciante took 13.9 per cent of the overall vote.

NINE INCH NAILS - HEAD LIKE A HOLE

The rights to Nine Inch Nails' 1989 debut, Pretty Hate Machine, have been purchased by Los Angeles publishing firm Bicycle Music, which has announced plans to reissue the album. The company has acquired the rights to more than 700 master recordings from the TVT Records label archives. Pretty Hate Machine was out of print from 1997 to 2005 because of a clash between NIN mastermind Trent Reznor and TVT. The album was last reissued by Rykodisc in 2005, but it is still difficult to find in stores and completely unavailable in digital form. Trent Reznor has not confirmed whether he will be involved with the reissue, though he has commented in the past on what he'd like to see on such a project. "I would like to have a 5.1 version," he told the Toronto Sun in 2005. "I'll do extra songs. I'll redo the packaging. Everything. But I'm not doing it for free."
