94XPOSED TUESDAY NOVEMBER 15TH
Chad Kroeger – The Nickelback singer/guitarist is 37.
NICKELBACK - BURN IT TO THE GROUND The Xmas battle is on! Nirvana have been named as the second favourites in the race for this year's Christmas Number One single in the UK. A Facebook campaign was launched earlier this year to help the band's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' to the Christmas Number One spot ahead of the winner of this year's X Factor and bookmakers Ladbrokes have responded by naming the track as the second favourite at 4/1. Reinstated X Factor entrant Amelia Lily is the favourite to take the top spot at 7/2, with the other contestants in the reality show also all given low odds to take the singles crown this Christmas. You may remember 2 years ago Renegades Of Funk by Rage Against The Machine was the #1 Christmas song after a massive Facebook campaign was launched to stop Cowell's X-factor contestants from taking the coveted trophy! -------------------------BREAK------------------------ Ace Frehley is in the New York groove. The original KISS guitarist's new book, "No Regrets: A Rock 'N' Roll Memoir," has just debuted at #10 on the New York Times "Hardcover Nonfiction" best sellers list. Co-written by New York Times journalist Joe Layden, the book is billed as "a funny, truthful, candid memoir about a hard-drinking, drug-addicted, music-loving guitar player who lived life as a rock star and survived to tell the tale." The book was published November 1, and Ace has been doing book-signing events around the country – and lots of media interviews – to help promote it.
KISS - STRUTTER More than two dozen giant Gibson guitar sculptures designed in honor of the Doors, Motley Crue, Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne and others have been decorating various spots on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip for the better part of a year, and now those 20-foot-tall axes will be auctioned for charity. The Gibson GuitarTown public art exhibition was unveiled in August 2010 to celebrate the musicians, local personalities and prominent nightlife spots associated with the Sunset Strip. It featured a total of 26 Gibson guitar sculptures designed by local visual artists and displayed at prominent and historic locales on the Strip. Other rockers honored include Kiss, Slash, Peter Frampton and Beach Boy Brian Wilson, who was on hand for the ribbon-cutting. Now the art guitars are going under the hammer on Dec. 3 at Julien’s Auctions Beverly Hills and online at www.julienslive.com. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Los Angeles Youth Network, the West Hollywood Arts & Cultural Commission and the West Hollywood Library. ----------------------------BREAK---------------------------- Journey received the Legend Of Live Award Thursday night at the 2011 Billboard Touring Awards in New York, part of the Billboard Touring Conference. The award honors groups or individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to live music and the touring business, and acknowledges the recipients' commitment to the art of performing live and reaching fans through the concert experience. Journey remains a hugely successful touring band, having sold nearly 1 million tickets and averaging more than $600,000 a night at the box office on this year's "Eclipse" tour, according to Billboard Boxscore.
