94XPOSED TUESDAY FEBRUARY 16TH

Feb 16, 1991, The Simpsons were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Do The Bartman from The Simpsons’ 1990 album The Simpsons Sing the Blues. The song leads off the album as the first track and the first single released from it. Shonen Knife released a Japanese language cover of the song as a b-side on their 1992 CD single “Do the Knife”. The Simpsons have had some great rock cameos in the past but one of my fav's was Billy Corgan's moment on the show. Billy Corgan might be known as a sourpuss in his music, but he showed a deft comic touch in the episode. Homer tells the Pumpkins, “Thanks to your gloomy music, [my kids have] finally stopped dreaming of a future I can’t possibly provide.” Corgan responds happily, “Well, we try to make a difference.”

JIMI HENDRIX - ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER

Jimi Hendrix’s stepsister, Janie Hendrix, who controls the late guitar god’s estate, let it slip during an L.A. Times interview that a Hendrix edition of "Rock Band" will be coming before the end of the year. The statement was made while discussing the impact of Sony Music’s licensing deal for the Hendrix master recordings last year. From the article: "At the time the deal was completed, Sony vowed to make his music "available through every type of media" -- including a new edition of Rock Band that Janie Hendrix says should appear before the end of this year."

Chart Attack had a fun report over the weekend about an online pickle that is gaining on Nickelback's popularity. Chad Kroeger likes pickles. He's written songs about them and even tried to eat one for a case of beer at one time. So it's only appropriate that a bored person would start a Facebook page called "Can this pickle get more fans than Nickleback [sic]?" Nickelback currently have about 1,400,000 fans on Facebook, but the pickle is closing in on that in a big way, since it already has about 960,000 fans. This is the latest "can this food get more fans than" Facebook pages.

COVERDALE PAGE - SHAKE MY TREE

In 1993, WHITESNAKE vocalist David Coverdale and LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page joined forces under the moniker COVERDALE/PAGE and released a self-titled album. Although there are no plans for the pair to record any new material or reunite for any shows, Coverdale reveals that "EMI has recently been asking thae pair about putting a 'special edition' together after they heard there were several unreleased tracks. They pair of icons have archived alot of tapes, cassettes & videos and have discovered a ton of the demos Jimmy Coverdale made which could be very interesting for some people to hear. They are still in the legal stages of the project but are hoping to release the unheard material sooner rather than later.
