94XPOSED FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 16TH
1991 – “Use Your Illusion I” and “Use Your Illusion II” were released simultaneously by Guns N’ Roses. The quality of tracks on the double album was outstanding but we found out later on that it was the recording of these records that effectively broke up the band. Axl wanted to use synthesizers and peripheral sounds in his music to give it a bit of an ethereal feel. Izzy Stradlin was the first to reject that Idea and leave the band. Slash and the rest of the crew soon followed suit. Use your illusion 1 and 2 remain great albums, but everytime I loisten to them all I can think is: " Damn, What if Axl wasn't such an asshat and the boys were still rocking together? What kind of epic Rock would they have thrown our way?" Maybe its for the best. The original GN'R never turned into a watered down priss band. They went out on top.
GUNS AND ROSES - YOU COULD BE MINE (USE YOUR ILLUSION 2) Saturday September 17th - 2002 – Disturbed released their “Believe” album. The album spawned 3 top ten singles and remains the most melodic effort the ban d has released to date. The boys are currently on Hiatus with no return date in sight. ---------------------BREAK---------------------- The Weezer camp sent over the details about their upcoming Weezer Cruise which will set sail on January 19-23, 2012, going from Miami to an "island in the sun," Cozumel, Mexico. WEEZER - MEMORIES Everclear will be looking back with their new release, Return To Santa Monica, which hits stores on September 27, 2011. The band revisits their old musical stomping grounds with all-new recordings of their greatest hits and personal favorites. Also included are cover versions of Tom Petty and The Heartbreaker's "I Won't Back Down," The Steve Miller Band's "The Joker" and The Police's "Every Breath You Take." -----------------------BREAK-------------------- Sunday September 18th - 1970 – James Marshall “Jimi Hendrix” died in his London apartment at the age of 27 from an overdose of sleeping pills. He is widely considered to be the greatest electric guitarist in musical history, and one of the most influential musicians of his era across a range of genres. After initial success in Europe with his group The Jimi Hendrix Experience, he achieved fame in the United States following his 1967 performance at the Monterey Pop Festival. Later, Hendrix headlined the iconic 1969 Woodstock Festival and the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. He often favored raw overdriven amplifiers with high gain and treble and helped develop the previously undesirable technique of guitar amplifier feedback. Hendrix, as well as his friend Eric Clapton, popularized use of the wah-wah pedal in mainstream rock which he often used to deliver an exaggerated sense of pitch in his solos, particularly with high bends, complex guitar playing, and use of legato. He remians one of the most revered artists of all time! RIP Jimi Hendrix Born November 27th 1942 - Death September 18th, 1970. JIMI HENDRIX - HEY JOE |
