With apologies to Smashing Pumpkins, today is the greatest day they’ve ever known for Motley Crue.  The City Of West Hollywood has declared today Motley Crue Day as the band prepares to headline the Sunset Strip Music Festival.  The band are the 2011 honorees for their contributions to the Sunset Strip music scene over the years and will be saluted during an all-star tribute this evening at the House Of Blues.  “So many of us native Angelinos consider Motley Crue to be our home boys,” says West Hollywood mayor John Duran.  “It will be an honor to recognize the ‘Saints Of Los Angeles’ in our hometown and thank them for the incredible contribution they made to hard rock, glam and Southern California music.”  In addition to tonight’s tribute, Motley Crue will close out the Sunset Strip Music Festival Saturday night, bringing the Tommy Lee 360 degree drum rollercoaster to the street festival stage.

Slipknot singer Corey Taylor has said he will definitely release some collaborative material with former Guns N' Roses and current Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan.  The singer, who recorded 10 tracks with Velvet Revolver, but was ultimately rejected by the band for the role of their new frontman, told Fuse TV that he would definitely work with McKagan again, despite it not working out with Velvet Revolver. He said: Me and Duff will probably do some stuff later. Me and him, we really hit it off, and we're really close, and we started writing songs together, and we've got some really good stuff. So, you never know. There might be a mystery supergroup out there – me and Duff and some other weird people – making some weird music that people are, like: 'What? That's them?' So, yeah, maybe. We'll see what happens."
