On this day in 2004, one of the best rock bands, Van Halen released their greatest hits album "The Best of Both Worlds". The title references both their song of the same name, and the fact that the album has songs from their two main vocalists David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. It featured 36 of their very best tracks including a few live ones.

It was on this day in 1996 that Kim Thayil of Soundgarden is arrested for assault and then later released after playing on the Lollapalooza ’96 tour stop in N. Carolina. Also today, as you may hav eheard in the 90's at noon, it is Soundgarden and Front Man Chris Cornell's B-Day. he turns 47 today

Music journalist Harry Doherty has authored a comprehensive and official history of rock band Queen.According to Planet Rock, 40 Years of Queen is fully approved by the band and tells their story from the very beginning. I for one, am very interested in this book. It will be released this October

Jimi Hendrix - Foxey Lady

 

Word spread a couple weeks back that OutKast singer Andre 3000 may land the role as Jimi Hendrix in a bio-pic about the iconic rock star. However, the Hendrix family sent out a statement dashing those hopes.... or at least hopes that this rumored film would finally be officially sanctioned. Anie Hendrix, Jimi's sister and CEO of Experience Hendrix, notes that it is the role of Experience Hendrix and only Experience Hendrix to make decisions regarding such projects which it intends to do on its own timetable. Here's hoping it is soon, becasue I don't hink I am the only one who wants to see a Hendrix Bio Pic

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has said that his side project Stone Sour are planning to release a live DVD and covers EP. According to website Blabbermouth, Taylor has said that the band will release a live DVD which they shot in Brighton toward the end of 2010, while in the UK on a co-headline tour with Avenged Sevenfold. Taylor has just completed a run of European festivals with Slipknot and is currently promoting his new book Seven Deadly Sins.
