94XPOSED WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 22ND
2005 – Blink-182 announced they were going on indefinite hiatus after bowing out of a Music For Relief benefit performance earlier in the month. The group splintered into Tom DeLonge’s Angels & Airwaves project and Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker’s +44.
BLINK 182 - AFTER MIDNIGHT April 14 is approaching and no one – including members of the band – knows what will happen with the original Guns N' Roses lineup at their Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland. There's been speculation from every corner of the globe on this one, as hopes are high that GNR will put aside their differences for a few hours – hell, a few minutes, really – and pull things together to accept their induction gracefully. Beyond that, the biggest hope is the original GNR hit the stage to perform on the history-making occasion. Slash is the latest to be asked about the Rock Hall plans, and he tells Mike Jones of Washington D.C. station DC101 that he’s in the dark as much as anyone else. "I know that there's a lot of rumor about it, as always when it comes to GNR, out there on the Internet and stuff," said the guitarist. "But as it stands right this second, I have no idea what's going on." -------------------------BREAK-------------------------- Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. announced the sudden passing of Robert ("Bob") F. Hendrix, the company's Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. March 17, 1946 - February 19, 2012. As first cousin to legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix, Bob Hendrix came to the support of Jimi's father, James "Al" Hendrix and his daughter, Janie L. Hendrix in 1995 to help form Seattle-based Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. and Authentic Hendrix, LLC; the companies entrusted to manage the late guitarist's music legacy. Since that time, Bob has been actively involved in day-to-day business operations recently holding the positions as the company's Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining the Hendrix family companies full-time in 1996, Mr. Hendrix was Vice President and General Merchandise Manager at Price Costco.
JIMI HENDRIX - HEY JOE It doesn’t smoke or fire rockets, but original Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley has told Classic Rock that his new Gibson Budokan Les Paul Custom gets “amazingly close” to the original he rocked in the golden era. Unveiled at the NAMM trade show in January at four price points (from $12,000 for Gibson’s Custom Aged to $900 for the Epiphone equivalent), the limited run includes 50 high-end models signed by the Spaceman himself. “It was my favourite guitar in the 70s,” says Frehley, “and my No.1 choice for performing live. It felt good, it played good… just an all-round great guitar. Actually, a friend of mine has the original.” Gibson.com has all the details! --------------------BREAK---------------------- Bradley Nowell - The late Sublime vocalist would have been 44. Nowell was an American musician who served as lead singer and guitarist of the ska punk band Sublime. He died at the age of 28 from a heroin overdose shortly before the release of Sublime's self-titled major label debut. Raised in Long Beach, California, Nowell developed an interest in music at a young age. His father took him on a trip to the Virgin Islands during his childhood, which exposed him to reggae and dancehall music. Nowell played in various bands until forming the group Sublime with bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh, whom he had met while attending California State University Long Beach. As Sublime gained success, Nowell struggled with a worsening addiction to heroin. After several attempts to quit using the drug, Nowell died of a heroin overdose while Sublime was on tour on May 25, 1996. SUBLIME - SANTERIA |
