94XPOSED THURSDAY DECEMBER 22ND

John Graham Mellor (21 August 1952 – 22 December 2002), best remembered by his stage name Joe Strummer, was the co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist of the British punk rock band The Clash. His musical experience included his membership in The 101ers, Latino Rockabilly War, The Mescaleros and The Pogues, in addition to his own solo music career. Strummer's work as a musician allowed him to explore other interests, which included acting, creating film scores for television and movies, songwriting, radio broadcasting, and a position as a radio host. Strummer is one of the iconic figures of the British punk movement. Strummer died suddenly on 22 December 2002 in his home at Broomfield in Somerset, the victim of an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. His estate was valued at just under £1 million, and he left all the money to his wife Lucinda. The Music lives on!

THE CLASH - LONDON CALLING
SWITCHFOOT - DARK HORSES

It’s a little bit different on the West Coast over the holidays. Sure, most of the traditions are observed, but there’s just something about the warm weather climate that seems a little off. Switchfoot singer Jon Foreman tells us, “I’ve lived on the East Coast for many years, Boston, Virginia…I’ve experienced many a Detroit Christmases, and it is odd to try and describe a San Diego Christmas to someone from Boston. The very fact that there is not snow on the ground and that you might have gone surfing that morning and might have put your Christmas tree in the sand, that’s not really heard of.” But having lived around the U.S., Foreman says he loves the traditions he’s formed while in the band’s home base of San Diego. “I will say this, there are usually waves on Christmas Day. That’s the Christmas tradition in San Diego,” says the vocalist.

Among the more noteworthy releases coming our way in 2012 is the tenth studio album from Seattle rock giants Pearl Jam. After spending much of the year reflecting on their 20-year run, the rock vets aim to finish their next record by spring 2012. You never know what you're going to get when Pearl Jam releases a new record, which is one of the things we love about the band. Whether it's an album filled with more experimental tracks like 'No Code' or 'Binaural' or straight ahead rock like 'Ten' or 'Pearl Jam,' the band has proven that they are one of the most versatile acts in rock music today. Being that their next album will make number ten — a number that holds much significance to the band and it's fans — we're wondering whether we will get a nostalgic PJ sound or something entirely new.Expect the new release by Spring!

PEARL JAM - I AM MINE
SEETHER - COUNTRY SONG

Having already played 150 gigs in support of their new album 'Holding On To Strings Better Left To Fray,' you'd think Seether would be ready to relax a bit in 2012. A recent interview revealed that not only will they not be taking it easy, they'll play about 300 shows in the new year — that means they don't even get most weekends off! The members of Seether understand the importance of connecting with their fans in person — for that reason they will be doing somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 shows in 2012.
