94XPOSED THURSDAY AUGUST 25TH
Gene Simmons – The KISS bassist is 62.
KISS - DOMINO Tyler Connolly fronts one of the more successful rock bands in the land today, but rock wasn’t the initial path for the Theory Of A Deadman singer. He tells us that he was part of a rap band during his youth and went so far as to buy a sampler and record a song with one of his friends that was played at their Junior High dance. The singer laughs, “Yes, I was a DJ and that’s the most I’ll go into it, but I took a turn. It’s a little bit different now.” As for making the transition to rock, Connolly says, “Puberty got me into guitar. I started noticing women, the opposite sex, that’s when I learned to play guitar. It was cooler.” The vocalist says one of his friends taught him how to play “Stairway To Heaven” and when he showed his father he knew how, that led to getting his first guitar. -------------------------BREAK----------------------- ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons has compared penning a hit song to pornography. In an interview with Le High Valley Live Gibbons says it is hard to put into words the process of identifying what makes a song a hit. He said: "It's like Supreme Court Justice Stewart said about the definition of pornography, 'I can't describe it but I know it when I see it. The comparison is perhaps not all that surprising considering the bearded shredder helped write some famous musical homage's to women and their lady bits with 'Tush,' 'Pearl Necklace,' 'Gimme All Your Loving' and 'Hot Leg's.
ZZ TOP - PEARL NECKLACE Rise Against's current hit, "Make It Stop (September's Children)" is available as a free download from Google's new music discovery service, Magnifier. Rise Against is the current featured artist on Google Music Beta and "Make It Stop" will be a free download for the next week. -------------------------BREAK------------------- Rob Halford – The Judas Priest frontman is 60.
