SHINEDOWN - THE SOUND OF MADNESS

Shinedown are winding down support of their “The Sound Of Madness” with the upcoming “Anything & Everything” tour, and looking back, singer Brent Smith says it’s been an incredible run. The vocalist tells us, “I hoped it was gonna be really really special [when we made it]. We worked really really hard on it, and the next record, we’re gonna work 100 times harder.” Smith says it’s rare for a record to have such staying power and he’s hoping that translates into “The Sound Of Madness” being a timeless disc that will continue to be popular years down the road. He adds, “We were just talking about ‘Back In Black’ and AC/DC before we got here and how excited we got about that record. And that record is 20-30 years old now….but ultimately I want people to think about ‘The Sound Of Madness’ 20 years from now and think, ‘That was awesome.’” Since its release in 2008, the disc has spawned five charting singles and reached platinum status in sales. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Sound Of Madness is one of the best rock albums of the past decade!

The official unveiling of the monument dedicated to metal legend Ronnie James Dio took place in the Bulgarian Black-sea coastal town of Kavarna on Saturday (Saturday, October 23). Dio's road manager Steve Mignardi and Dio drummer Simon Wright (who also previously played with Ac/Dc) attended the event. Sculptors Alexander Petrov and Krasimir Krastev - Lomsky spent two months working on the project, which is more than two meters in height (approximately six-and-a-half feet) and is combined with large stones taken from the sea.

PEARL JAM - DO THE EVOLUTION

On Saturday, Pearl Jam played the first of two Bridge School Benefit shows in California; this weekend marks the 24th edition of the annual event organized by Neil Young. Pearl Jam are celebrating their 20th anniversary this week, marking their Off Ramp gig in Seattle on October 22, 1990 as the starting point to their career. "It was 20 years ago, last night, our group played our first gig," said Eddie Vedder. "I wouldn't mention it, but only because, if we wouldn't have had the help or assistance or the comradely with a certain guy, I guess we would have made it for about 5 or 6...if we wouldn't have had our Uncle Neil looking after us."
