Shannon Hoon – The late Blind Melon singer would have been 44. not alot of people know this but Hoon was really close friends with Axl Rose. Both singers hail from Indiana but, it was in Los Angeles, Hoon befriended his sister Anna's high school friend, Axl Rose. Rose invited Hoon to join him in the studio, where his band Guns N' Roses were recording their albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. Hoon sang backing vocals on several of the tracks, including "The Garden" and "Don't Cry". Rose also invited Hoon to appear in the video for "Don't Cry." October 21st, 1995, Hoon was found dead after a night of drugs and binge drinking.
BLIND MELON - NO RAIN Seether have undergone a fair share of shifts over the years between being a four-piece and a three-piece group, but they just keep rocking along regardless of the size of the band. Bassist Dale Stewart tells us that the recent loss of guitarist Troy McLawhorn and transitioning back to singer Shaun Morgan as their main guitarist isn’t as big a move as it seems. “I don’t think we’re lacking anything,” says the bassist. “We’ve tried on two occasions now to have a fourth person, but it always just ends up coming back to the three of us. We’re just going to stay as a three-piece now and we’re one of the very few three-pieces out there at the moment.” Stewart says the group have always been anti-Pro Tools, so their arrangements still work within the three-piece formation without having any extra bells and whistles. -------------------------BREAK----------------------------- Jared Followill of Kings of Leon and Nick Brown from Mona had a crazy night getting into an uninhabited home that Followill owns. All the doors were locked so Followill’s solution was to crash his car through the garage. Apparently all of this went down on Tuesday night. The Kings of Leon guitarist - who actually purchased his neighbor's house, which is now uninhabited - Tweeted that the crash was actually done on a dare. "I wasn't drinking," he said. "It was a dare. I obliged my audience. The house is going to be demolished in a couple of weeks. Why does the construction company get to have all the fun?" I dunno. I think the last thing jared said before he got into his truck was probably, "Hold my beer and watch this."
KINGS OF LEON - SEX ON FIRE City and Colour will raise a little hell across Canada this winter. The indie-rock outfit led by (and named for) former Alexisonfire guitarist Dallas Green will tour the country in January and February in support of their third album Little Hell, it was announced. The Canadian trek — the band’s first major national campaign in three years — kicks off in Vancouver on Jan. 19 and then makes its way across the frigid Prairies, dipping down into the U.S. before closing in St. John’s on Feb. 25. Rhode Island indie-folk outfit The Low Anthem will be the opening act. Tickets for most shows go on sale Friday at Ticketmaster, priced between $45 and $55, depending on city, venue and seating.
