TOOL has started work on its first new album since since 2006's "10,000 Days", and the group recently updated fans on the progress in a newsletter that explains, "Members of the band are still in the process of writing new material (three days a week) . . . it shouldn't be long before the dry-erase board is filled with a bewildering array of color-coded intros, progressions, inversions, resolutions, transitions, variations, obbligatos, consonance, and endings — the arrangements that millions will attempt to download off the Internet."

Volcanic ash meant the American heavy-metal band METALLICA had to take the train to Russia for their gig. But that inconvenience seemed small for frontman James Hetfield after he was allegedly robbed in a Moscow restaurant. Hetfield claims he and his bandmates had steaks and salads worth around 8,000 roubles ($270). The frontman paid by card, but later he saw that he had been billed over 19,000 roubles – that is more than twice the bill. When he went back to the restaurant to complain, the management showed him a receipt for the disputed amount with his signature on it. Hetfield thinks his signature may have been forged.

METALLICA - UNFORGIVEN

RUSH - TOM SAWYER

Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson is a failed child star, it's been revealed in the band's documentary movie. Scenes in Beyond the Lighted Stage show a teenage Lifeson arguing with his parents, in footage which was supposed to appear in a reality film. But the project was abandoned when not enough happened to keep it interesting. Lifeson tells Time Out New York: "There was this Canadian film maker, Allan King, who just recently passed away. He was known for his cinema verite documentaries. I auditioned for a film he wanted to do about ten kids from different parts of Toronto moving onto a farm for three months. "We went and did the film – and it was terrible. Nothing developed between us. The project was shelved. But it was a chance to get out of school for three months." He reveals the band had similar misgivings about making a documentary about Rush – because they think they're too quiet and uninteresting for reality-style shooting. But reviewers of the documentary, which will see its TV debut June 26th on VH1 classic, tend to disagree!

A movie based on the life of Ozzy Osbourne is to go into production imminently.Blabbermouth have reported that Sharon Osbourne said of these plans: “There’s about to be a big announcement. It’s been picked up and it’s going into production. We’re going to make a press announcement hopefully within the next two weeks. There’s no cast yet, but we have a producer and we have lots of money and we’re all starting.” This movie should be a very entertaining one for Ozzy. It will be like he is watching his life for the first time......He was a little to messed up on drugs the first time through to remember it all.
