94XPOSED THURSDAY APRIL 28TH
1987 – On a Miami to Boston flight, Ozzy Osbourne bought three rounds of drinks for the passengers and sang “Crazy Train” over the PA system.
OZZY OSBOURNE - CRAZY TRAIN Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith announced that the band’s forthcoming album will be released in “the last week of August.” The still unnamed record will be the band’s first since the 2007 smash hit “Stadium Arcadium.” The album will be the first to feature guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. Guitarist John Frusciante left the band in 2009 to be replaced by Klinghoffer, who toured with the group as a backup guitarist during the “Stadium Arcadium” tour. “He brought a lot to the table,” said Smith, “he’s an excellent writer.” -------------------------BREAK----------------------------- Ever wonder where Kirk Hammett got the idea for Enter Sandman's riff?? The inspiration behind the "Enter Sandman" riff was … Soundgarden. Hammett's most famous riff might never have occurred had he not been a fan of Soundgarden. In a 2008 interview with Rolling Stone, he explained: "Soundgarden had just put out Louder Than Love. I was trying to capture their attitude toward big, heavy riffs. It was two o'clock in the morning. I put it on tape and didn't think about it. When [drummer] Lars [Ulrich] heard the riff, he said, 'That's really great. But repeat the first part four times.' It was that suggestion that made it even more hooky."
METALLICA - ENTER SANDMAN 5FDP guitarist Zoltan Bathory phoned in to Hard Drive Radio with an update on the bands third studio album. The band currently has 14 songs for their next album which will be based on a general concept of the circle of life, the forces of nature and the survival of the fittest. Ivan Moody has written lyrics for 6 of those songs, and the guys seem to be having a great time with producer Kevin Churko. The album is slated for an August release with a tour to coincide. The band is preparing to audition for a new bassist after the departure of Matt Snell. -------------------------BREAK----------------------------- Slipknot's Shawn Clown Crahan and Joey Jordison say their upcoming European shows without Paul Gray will be their most emotional performances ever – and Clown says he'll be in tears even before they start to play. The festival sets mark the outfit's return to the stage following the death of bassist Paul Gray nearly a year ago, and the bandmates say it's a difficult but important step in the grieving process. But there's still no guarantee they'll record any new material, despite drummer Jordison's hopes. He tells Bare Bones Music: "I definitely want a new Slipknot record. I personally have, I don't know, probably over 17 songs ready." Percussionist Crahan is more cautious. He comments: "I'm not a fortune teller so I can't promise anybody anything. Do I want a record? Yes. Do I know if it'll happen? I don't know." SLIPKNOT - SNUFF |
